ADHD
Those of us who are experiencing life with a child who has been clinically diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) must heed great caution in jumping on the band wagon to administer such medications as Ritalin, Adderall, Concerta and/or various other stimulants before exhausting all other avenues in order to help our children deal successfully with a condition that lasts a lifetime.
Since preschool, my daughter has been the "little planet that orbits the activities of the classroom," seemingly unaware of the happenings occurring on a daily basis. This lack of attention has caused teachers to be greatly alarmed that my child is slow to learn, only later to be greatly surprised when they found out that she has actually absorbed most everything being taught and academically is exceeding the other children in the classroom.
Recently, while seeking possible herbal alternatives to help alleviate hyperactivity symptoms, I met a chiropractor who explained to me how the birthing process can actually injure our necks and spine, thus affecting our central nervous system and impeding transmission of neurological impulses to the brain. Following her recommendation to seek chiropractic help, she refered my daughter to Dr. Bradley Machara. After a complete evaluation, my child began a regimen of three chiropractic adjustments per week, and within three weeks there was a tremendous improvement in focusing and in academic marks.
Life at home has also changed significantly. There are still days when activity levels have increased and focus has decreased. Overall, things have slowed down quite dramatically. I can see improvements in my daughter almost daily, and I now know hope does exist for all children affected by ADHD.
My thanks and deepest gratitude are extended to Dr. Bradley Machara and his staff for their kindness, support and insight into an alternative therapy that is definitely working for our family.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth A.
